Spring 2017 Programs
Start a learning adventure now with our newest Quest to discover the meaning of creativity. Seek out different perspectives with your fellow alumni as you journey through the domains of psychology, the fine arts, business, and urban development. Share your ideas and glean insights as we learn what creativity means to us.
Beginning May 1, join Chris Kennedy, the William H. Colvin Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Humanities Collegiate Division, in a six-week online course as he considers how "alternative facts" and "fake news" have fueled growing concerns that we are entering a post-truth society. Come examine the role of a truth convention in meaning and communication and the ways in which it can be exploited.
Join us April 24-26 for an in-depth look at the various careers within the field of law. Whether you are new to the field or considering a career change, you will gain valuable insights. Sessions will include a webinar about ethics in law, an online panel discussion on nontraditional legal careers, and a one-on-one virtual networking event with panel discussants.
Join us June 5-23 as fellow alumni and Geoffrey R. Stone, JD'71, the Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor of Law to find out how sex came to be legislated in America. Stone will discuss his new book, Sex and the Constitution: Sex, Religion, and Law from America's Origins to the Twenty-First Century, helping us trace the complex and fascinating relationship between sex, religion, and law from the ancient world to the present.
Check AlumniU for additional programs coming in the spring and summer, including Roman Ideology and Modern Democracy, a new course with Clifford Ando, the David B. and Clara E. Stern Professor of Classics, History, and Law. We will also have new Digital Alumni Book Clubs, a special Alumni Show and Tell, and exciting new Quests.
